About the Owners

The Links at Teton Peaks seems like part of our family. We built the course in the early 90s, and the best thing we ever did was hire David Druzisky as our architect. At that time, David was a 30-year-old architect who was just getting started. He had designed a few courses and we marveled at his work. His design of our course was a masterpiece. Each hole seems to fit into the landscape like it had always been there. David positioned the holes to take full advantage of the views of the Tetons. The course is a links course complete with over 50 bunkers, including a few pot bunkers. One of the holes, number 16, has double fairways which is similar to how some of the links courses in Scotland and England are designed. The course took years to build and it turned out absolutely gorgeous. Golfers constantly tell us how beautiful the course is. In fact, one golfer traveled almost daily from Bondurant, Wyoming, a distance of about 80 miles one way, just to play the course. Many golfers have absolutely fallen in love with the course.

Our children, both of whom are now medical doctors, grew up working on the course. Our daughter, Sharman, worked in the clubhouse for several years. In fact, even now long time pass holders at our course reminisce about how much they miss “Sharmie”. Our son, Robert, when he was in high school, got up every morning during the summer at 5:30 a.m. and expertly mowed the greens on each hole. Each of our children were true ambassadors for the course. It is our hope that our children, who are now married, will eventually own the course and be involved in its management. To brag for a minute, our daughter, Sharman, is an outstanding doctor, a great surgeon and is an assistant professor of OB/GYN at Washington University in St. Louis. She is married to a wonderful guy, Andrew, who is an emergency physician. Both Sharman and Andrew are board certified in their fields. They have two beautiful twin girls, Sarah and Emily, who are now three years old, and a ten-month gorgeous little boy named Josh.

Our son, Robert, is an orthopedic oncology surgeon and married to Jessica, who is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. Starting in September of 2017 Robert will be an assistant professor and cancer surgeon at the University of Pennsylvania and Jessica will be doing research in endocrinology there. Robert and Jessica have one child, Robert III, who is one of the cutest little boys you will ever see. Many of our long-time pass holders still talk about the great job that our son, Robert, did keeping the greens in top notch shape.

My wife and I both worked at the course. Sharman managed the clubhouse for several years and still knows many of the golfers that have been loyal patrons for years and years. For years I managed the course and was helped immensely by a great staff that we had. Bill Zufelt was the superintendent for years and did an outstanding job. Today, the course is managed by Duffy McFarland and his team, who have done an outstanding job managing the course. Our greens are kept in excellent condition. The fairways and tee boxes are in great shape and you will find the course a pleasure to play.

During the summer, we play the course almost daily and look forward to meeting old time friends and new golfers. We believe that a good day of golfing consists of many different elements, all of which we believe our course meets. A course should be aesthetically pleasing. Our course looks at the Grand Teton mountain range. Many people see wildlife while they are golfing, including moose and deer. Some say it is almost like playing a course situated in a wildlife sanctuary. Another element of a great course is to have each hole unique and challenging. Our course clearly meets this criteria. In fact, years ago one newspaper reviewer said that of the several courses he had reviewed, our course was the only course that he could remember each hole because they were so unique. What course can you play that has holes with double fairways, pot bunkers and looks at the Tetons! Another element of a great golfing experience is to be greeted by a friendly and caring staff. Our staff is known for being friendly. In fact, Jeff Sundwall, our superintendent, makes it part of his job to know the names of most of our golfers. As we are golfing the course, many people come up to us and tell us that our course is one of the friendliest they have played. Another element of an outstanding course is having fees that are reasonable. We hear comments all the time how our course is worth far more than what it costs to play. We believe that having a great course, with reasonable fees, is why golfers continue to rate our course as one of the best that they have played.

Sharman and I have tried to create the best possible golfing experience for our patrons. Duffy McFarland and his team have done a great job fulfilling that vision. We believe that in the years to come, when reviewers look back at the course, they will conclude that The Links at Teton Peaks is one of the best designed courses and provides the golfer with a great golfing experience. It is our hope that the course remains a part of our family and the tradition of this great course will continue for many years to come.

Just a quick note about ourselves. My wife, Sharman, has worn many hats. She obviously has been a great mom. When the kids were growing up she not only helped run the course, but was a substitute teacher and worked to promote youth sports in Teton Valley. Sharman graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco. One of the greatest joys in her life is spending time with her precious grandchildren. Her interests include fly fishing, reading and of course playing her favorite course, The Links at Teton Peaks.

Bob Wilson loves golf and the history of golf. He has a keen interest in course design and has many books in his library devoted to the subject. His hobbies, in addition to golf, are reading, fly fishing and landscape painting. Bob has painted many of the holes on the course, which are pictured on the web site, along with the paintings of the course by noted landscape painter, Bart Walker. Bob has had two solo shows that featured his paintings and his paintings are shown on his web site www.robertjewellwilsonfineart.com . Bob has practiced law for more than 45 years. He is a graduate of Cal Poly, he received an MPA from USC (graduating first in his class) and he received his juris doctorate from the University of San Diego. The most important thing in Bob’s life is trying to be the best husband and father he can be.

We hope to see you on the course!
