Hole #1
Tips For Playing Hole #1 Par 5
Legendary golf course architect, Donald Ross, described the ideal first hole as a handshake. Clearly, David Druzisky, our architect, gives the golfer on the first hole at The Links a handshake. It is a short par 5. The back tees sit next to Griffin Spring Creek, a creek filled with cutthroat trout. The creek is also home to moose and whitetail deer. The view towards the first hole is beautiful with the Big Hole mountain range providing the backdrop to the first green. The hole is protected by four sand bunkers and Griffin Spring Creek on the right. A tee shot between the bunkers will give the longer hitters a good shot to the green and a chance for birdie. The left side of the fairway gives the best angle to the green. Avoid anywhere out of the fairway and short-right of the green. The handshake for many golfers is not firm. The first hole gives the best shot for a par or maybe a birdie for the accomplished golfer.
